Archive for 'vent'

My daughter just bought a new house. I tried to install her old dryer. The vent out the back of the dryer is a 4" circle. The hole in the wall is a 5" oval. I'm sure someone makes that reducer but I cannot find anyone who has one. (hardware stores, plumbing suppliers, appliance stores). What is it called? Do you know who makes it?

I have an electric clothes dryer. Whirlpool model LE9100XTN0
The clothes have been coming out super hot. Almost too hot to touch. I suspect a thermostat but there are two. One is on the heater box ( part number 3390291) and the other on the blower or exhaust box ( part number 3387134). I checked them with my ohm meter and Both have continuity but I realize one (or both) could still be defective. Which thermostat should I try replacing first? Which one is the likely culprit ? or..... Could it be a faulty moisture sensor or something else ?
Forgot to mention that I have cleaned the entire dryer and the vent to the outside. I also suspected lint buildup but there was no buildup and what little was there i cleaned and removed it is absolutley clean and free from lint now but is still overheating

Gas dryer is 7 months old. Inlstalled in new house. Has been drying just fine until the last couple of days. It took 3- 60 mts cylcles to finally dry average load. Wet lint is accumelating around outside of lint screen. Repair man came today and took the dryer a part and insisted dryer is working just fine. He thinks that there could be a ventallation problem from inside the wall that connects to outside since the house was recently built. The lanundry room is on the second floor so he couldn't locate the exact spot of outside vent but from what he saw that maybe the vent opening, there were no smoke blowing out. Can someone suggest what might be wrong all of a sudden? I'm going to contact the builder tomorrow but if the problem turns out to be what he thinks, how is this problem usually resolved. Does it call for tearing any walls down. Really worried, please help if you are familiar with this. Thank you in advance.

Lets say its cold outside. If I use the dryer at night won't it suck cold air in thru all the cracks? Making the house colder. Air goes in the dryer and out the vent. The air in the house has to be replaced somehow. So I assume cold air will be sucked in thru the cracks. But the dryer does get warm and should somewhat transfer the heat into the house. Is this a good trade? Wouldn't it still be best to use the dryer during the warmest part of the day in the winter. And the opposite would be in the summer to use the dryer at night when its coolest. Of course in the summer I would try to dry outside. Anybody got a good theory on this?
I wish all the rocket scientists wouldnt answer at once. pertaining to some of the first 4.
