Archive for 'timer'

I purchased a house with appliances included. The 2006 electric Whirlpool Estate Dryer looks brand new (very little lint even in the trap). First time running it blew my 220 line fuse (just thought it was an old fuse). After replacing it dryer went a full cycle fine. The next load after that never shut off (timer never counted down and it ran all night). We thought we could live with that and just monitor it. Now there is no heat either but it still runs, again without counting down. Is this just one part that is affecting this (timer unit) or is the heating unit involved or is it something completely different. Just a service call will be , when at least the timer unit looks easy to replace. If it is possibly something else it might be worth just buying a new dryer? Can anyone help identify the issue and give recommendations?

I have a problem with my Whirlpool dryer, btu I believe I know how to fix it. One days it was dryer and today there is no heat, but still turns and the timer and everything works. I am assuming the heater coil went on the dryer, am I correct? If I am, where could I buy a good, cheap part online?

I was changing my dryer belt and I took my dryer appart. The top part bar which contains the on/off lever and timer/setting dial fell backwards. The colored wires, 7 wires to be exact with lil metal ends that plug into a lil metal thingy on the upper-right-side of my dryer on the top, close to the timer but below the metal top. That metal thingy has 7 other colored wires from the dryer hooked to it. I'm not sure whether I match color with color or what.

I don't have a diagram. I got a GE DDE5200PALWH automatic. It's an older dryer. Can someone help me out?

I don't wanna get shocked or call a repair man.

The top of my dryer fell off when I was changing my dryer belt. 9 colored wires, 8 hooked to one metal thing on the upper right side of the dryer from underneath fell off from my timer to the metal thing. There are 8 other colored wires hooked to the same metal thingy with 8 metal thingies in front of them. Do I connect them color to color? Also, where do I put the greenwire? do I connect it(not with the other wires) to the metal thingy connected to the top of the dryer (same part, not timer but on same piece)? The greenwire looks like it's grounded to the metal top.

Here's a drawing.

the dryer has settings for timer or for automatic dry by weight of fabric. it doesn't get hot enough to dry heavy clothes on the automatic setting anymore, but it does heat up when the timer setting is used (maybe not real hot, but warm enough at least enough to dry light things eventually. heavy things still feel slightly damp.) Is this a heating element problem or is it somewhere/somehow in the way the dial initiates heating when the dryer is turned on? Which part might I need? thx!
