My gas drier broke 2 weeks ago. (Kenmore) The repairman charged 3 to replace a fuse and said that would fix it. (Sears) It broke again last week. The repairman said it needs another fuse and a thermostat. The charge would be about 0, and the part needs to be ordered. The drier is about 12 years old. Is it worth putting more money into this, or should I get a new one?

I have a hotpoint gas dryer that was here when I moved in. Model # DLL2650 BHLWH. It was working great but now it won't light. I was tapping on the burner and pieces crumbled off the igniter, basically disintegrated. Do you think that was the problem? It's about a part. I've found on the net that the thermostat could be bad also which is about 75.00. Does anybody have experience with these? It's not worth spending 100.00 on this unit but I would get a new igniter if that's all it might be. Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance.
Everything looks beatiful under it...no corrosion. The igniter is a ceramic glow plug looking thing. No rust or anything on the burner. The dryer is actually really nice, has the auto dry sensing and everything

My dryer is not drying at all almost i reach into it and it feels like it is heating up but doesnt seem to be either blowing the air or not heating up enough, My cats kept knocking my exhaust line out so it went back into my laundry room and it got very humid in there and I am worried there could be some moisture damage to a blower or some other part
Ok I checked it more thoroughly and it seems to be blowing but the air is nowhere near as hot as it should be, really hoping its not the thermostat since I don't have monies for a repair person. =(

I have a Whirlpool DX8650 electric dryer. It does not dry the clothes efficiently. It is producing heat, and from what I can make of other Yahoo! Answers either the heating element is working or it's not (so it's probably some sort of an obstruction from the vent and the heating element should be ok). Having said that, I'll be pulling it out to check what the problem is. The dryer is about 10 years old so while I'm pulling it out to check the the vent/hose, I figured I might as well replace the heating element because it's not like I'll be pulling it out again & getting behind the dryer anytime soon. After visiting the manufacturer's web site, I got the part list. I'll be replacing the heating element for sure, but wasn't sure if I should order & replace these parts as well (as I'm not sure how they work with the heating element) :

- Box Heater
- Thermostat
- Wire Kit (For heater element wiring harness repair)
- Fuse, Thermal
- Thermal, Cut-Off (Hi-Limit)
- Box Heater
- Wheel, Blower
- Housing, Blower

I just want to make sure that while I'm back there inspecting the hose, that I take advantage of my time there and replace some very old parts which I know will eventually crap out (which I'm sure they will soon because like I said, it's a 10 year old model).

Before you answer, take a look at the manufacturer's web site to see a PDF of the schematics / parts list.

(In the top left hand corner you'll see a dialog box that says "Model Search"; just type in WX8650).

I have an electric clothes dryer. Whirlpool model LE9100XTN0
The clothes have been coming out super hot. Almost too hot to touch. I suspect a thermostat but there are two. One is on the heater box ( part number 3390291) and the other on the blower or exhaust box ( part number 3387134). I checked them with my ohm meter and Both have continuity but I realize one (or both) could still be defective. Which thermostat should I try replacing first? Which one is the likely culprit ? or..... Could it be a faulty moisture sensor or something else ?
Forgot to mention that I have cleaned the entire dryer and the vent to the outside. I also suspected lint buildup but there was no buildup and what little was there i cleaned and removed it is absolutley clean and free from lint now but is still overheating
