My ten year old Kenmore dryer stopping heating so clothes they don't dry. Any idea what the problem might be and the cost to repair? I called sears and it's an hour plus parts to have them come out or 9 for a 1 year warranty and repair. Would it be better to buy a new one and are the new GAS dryers really more energy efficient?

My gas drier broke 2 weeks ago. (Kenmore) The repairman charged 3 to replace a fuse and said that would fix it. (Sears) It broke again last week. The repairman said it needs another fuse and a thermostat. The charge would be about 0, and the part needs to be ordered. The drier is about 12 years old. Is it worth putting more money into this, or should I get a new one?

i have tried all settings but it wont stop or buzz nothing until i open the door. it dries the clothes well no hissing, whistling nothing it just doesnt stop it will go all day and night until someone opens the door or the lights will go out and come on. what part should i fix. i called sears and they want to send a tech and pay him per hour. and i dont want to do that because i know how that works. last time i had tech to fix an appliance he assured me my water spicket would work after what he done when he fixed the motor. well it dont. and he wont come out here unless i pay for it to get fixed. i was like you assured me and it wasnt written in stone so i could not do anything abuot it. so i rather me and my hub fix on our own.

This video is mostly to show what a nice, new (and glowing!) dryer heating element looks like in a Sears Kenmore 90 Series clothes dryer! If you want to see the step-by-step procedure for replacing the element I recommend you go to the same YouTube site I did, it's "whatasite" at www.youtube.com where the guy's got a very instructional video that helped me, too. Again, I'm not fond of providing free advertising but I got such a great deal on the heating element I need to mention the company here! appliancecarestore.com - .99 for the element and .50 for shipping via the United States Postal Service - the right part arrived at my home at the right time! Here's my personal web site www.rogerwendell.com 02-02-2009

The new belt provided by Sears Parts Center is much skinnier and whines while it moves the drum. It does the job but it has a whine to it that my old one didnt. The old belt was getting worn after 18 years of operation. Was cracking and ready to break. Any suggestions? Can I find a belt that would work that would be the width of my old belt? Will the whining calm down after a while? I put some bees wax on it a little to calm the sound. Helps a little.
