Archive for 'gas dryer'

I have a gas dryer I'm trying to hook up. I have bought a gas line kit from the hardware store that has all the parts I need (fitings for each end, steel gas line, teflon for gas, etc.).

My question is, do I need to tape the flared ends too? or just the regular male ends?

I have a hotpoint gas dryer that was here when I moved in. Model # DLL2650 BHLWH. It was working great but now it won't light. I was tapping on the burner and pieces crumbled off the igniter, basically disintegrated. Do you think that was the problem? It's about a part. I've found on the net that the thermostat could be bad also which is about 75.00. Does anybody have experience with these? It's not worth spending 100.00 on this unit but I would get a new igniter if that's all it might be. Any thoughts?
Thank you in advance.
Everything looks beatiful under it...no corrosion. The igniter is a ceramic glow plug looking thing. No rust or anything on the burner. The dryer is actually really nice, has the auto dry sensing and everything

Gas dryer is 7 months old. Inlstalled in new house. Has been drying just fine until the last couple of days. It took 3- 60 mts cylcles to finally dry average load. Wet lint is accumelating around outside of lint screen. Repair man came today and took the dryer a part and insisted dryer is working just fine. He thinks that there could be a ventallation problem from inside the wall that connects to outside since the house was recently built. The lanundry room is on the second floor so he couldn't locate the exact spot of outside vent but from what he saw that maybe the vent opening, there were no smoke blowing out. Can someone suggest what might be wrong all of a sudden? I'm going to contact the builder tomorrow but if the problem turns out to be what he thinks, how is this problem usually resolved. Does it call for tearing any walls down. Really worried, please help if you are familiar with this. Thank you in advance.
