My dryer is not heating. I have located thermal fuse! dont know if its bad cause i have no meter to check it. Any other way to do this? I have located the heating element! Still have no way of checking if this is bad! HELP!! I really do not want to go and start buying parts.

You say you’ve located the thermal fuse, it should be the small one on the upper end of the silver element case. It should be held in with one 1/4" hex head screw and have two red wires coming out of it. If you don’t have a tester, an easy way to check this is to remove the two wires, either slide the two spade clips into each other, or tape them together and then try the machine. If it heats up, then the thermal fuse, (called a hi-limit), was bad and the element is ok. If It still doesn’t heat then there’s a good possibility that the element is the problem. If you have to take the element out, you’ll have to pop the top lid on the dryer, being sure to remove the two little screws under the lint trap flap before pulling it up. There will be a small screw holding a clip on the very top of the element case that must be removed before the case will come out. Unhook the wires from the bottom and remove the case, take the element out of the case and if it’s bad, there should be a break in the coils somewhere. Try to move the coils around gently at several different points and if it’s broken you should be able to see it easily. Once you determine which part is bad you can get the right one an put it back together.

Same thing happened to me.. I finally called the repair man(which i didn’t want to do) and it only cost me 60 bucks to fix it.. phone around and tell them exactly what is wrong so they won’t have to make more than 1 trip..
