Here are some of the common dryer repair help tips that can save you a possible service call. These dryer repair tips are usually an easy fix that can be performed by most folks.

The Dryer Takes A Long Time To Dry Clothes
dryer repair help

The normal drying time is about 3/4 of an hour per load. The first thing to check is the venting. If the dryer vent is clogged with lint, it will take longer to dry a load of clothes. Clean all venting and make sure the dryer exhaust can be felt outside at the vent outlet when running.

Another dryer repair help tip for slow drying times is the heating element itself. If you notice some heat during the drying cycle you could have a heating element that has a portion of it burned out. If so, replace the heating element completely as there is no partial fix for this.

The next thing to check is the duct work interior of the dryer itself. Remove the lint trap and inspect to see if it appears to be clogged with lint. Try and remove with a vacuum cleaner. If this does not do the trick, the dryer may have to be opened up more to get at the duct work. This should be done by a professional.

The Dryer Will Not Heat At All

A thermal fuse is included in a lot of dryers which will blow out and not allow the heating unit to operate. This fuse has to be replaced as it is not the reset type. You can usually find it around the exhaust duct area.

A bad heating element will also not allow the dryer to heat up. These can go bad and not trip a breaker. You must replace the element if you have no continuity through it.

You want to be sure the dryer has full house power to it. The dryer will operate normally using two breakers. At times one breaker can trip allowing the motor to run but not allow the heating element to operate.

The Dryer Drum Will Not Turn

Here, the most common problem is the belt has broken. When this occurs, the idler pulley might also be bad as they both tend to wear out at the same time.

The dryer door switch must be working for the dryer to operate. This insures that the door is fully closed when the appliance is in operation. If the switch is bad it must be replaced.

If you notice that the motor is humming, the motor could be bad. Remove the dryer belt and if the motor hums and does not turn, you will probably have to replace it.
